The session explored success stories, shared challenges, and practical approaches to overcoming barriers faced by women and girls.

In his remarks, Ranjit Kumar Sarkar praised the initiative, noting that women’s active participation in humanitarian assistance and disaster management is making communities more resilient and sustainable. The program concluded with a special photo exhibition showcasing the powerful role of women in humanitarian response and disaster risk management, leaving participants inspired and committed to advancing women’s rights and leadership.

Systems, Standards, and Partnerships

AVAS has developed and adopted standard policies and procedures to ensure quality, transparency, and accountability in its humanitarian work. The organization is also actively engaged in:

  • Pooled fund mechanisms
  • Partnerships with international and national NGOs (I/NNGOs)
  • Participation in humanitarian coordination platforms
  • Collaboration with government committees at different levels

These connections strengthen AVAS’s ability to scale its response and align with global humanitarian standards.

Moving Forward with Anticipatory Action

Recognizing the increasing impact of climate change, AVAS is now expanding its focus toward Anticipatory Action. This approach emphasizes acting before disasters strike, using forecasts and early warning systems to reduce risks and protect lives and livelihoods.

AVAS is actively involved in implementing anticipatory action projects and contributing to research in this evolving field. Through this, the organization aims to shift from reactive response to proactive risk management.

Commitment to Resilience and Humanity

From its beginnings during Cyclone SIDR to its current leadership in anticipatory action, AVAS continues to evolve as a trusted humanitarian actor. Its work reflects a deep commitment to safeguarding vulnerable communities, strengthening resilience, and ensuring that no one is left behind in times of crisis.
