It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Association of Voluntary Actions for Society (AVAS).
Since 1998, AVAS has been working to support marginalized and vulnerable communities with a strong belief that development must be people-centered and participatory. We see people not as beneficiaries, but as active partners in shaping their own future with dignity and rights.
Over the years, our work has expanded from women’s empowerment to a broader focus on livelihoods, health, education, human rights, climate resilience, and disaster response. Through all our efforts, we remain committed to inclusion, equity, and sustainable change.
In a world facing growing social and climate challenges, AVAS continues to promote locally led solutions that strengthen resilience and improve quality of life. Our journey is made possible by the trust of communities, the dedication of our team, and the support of our valued partners.
We invite you to connect with us and be part of this shared mission.
Association of Voluntary Actions for Society (AVAS) was established in 1998 as a non-profit, non-political, and community-based organization dedicated to promoting inclusive and sustainable development in Bangladesh.
AVAS believes that real development happens when people are actively involved in shaping their own future. Starting with a focus on women’s rights and leadership, the organization has expanded its work to areas such as health, education, livelihoods, human rights, climate resilience, and disaster response.
Based in Barisal, AVAS works across the Barisal Division, including remote and climate-vulnerable communities, with a commitment to empowering marginalized people, strengthening local systems, and improving quality of life through participatory and integrated approaches.
An environment and technology-friendly, gender-sensitive, fair, self-reliant, inclusive, and harmonious society.
AVAS works with people facing structural and crisis-driven vulnerabilities, including persons with disabilities and those in climate-vulnerable contexts, to strengthen livelihoods and meaningful fundamental rights, promote gender equality, ensure equitable access to services and opportunities, enhance accountability and uphold dignity through participatory and collaborative approaches.
